NEW PLAYERS TAKE ON SENSIS
12th December, 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BDAu (Business Directories Australia) and Esearch IT are set to challenge the monopoly in the recently de-regulated online telephone directories market. In a first for Australia, BDAu offers businesses an improved, more cost-effective alternative to advertising in the Yellow Pages, with advanced search utility that will benefit the end user. It offers consumers a comprehensive guide to trade, professional and retail businesses across Australia.
“I felt that search engines are only providing snippets of information of only the websites that have made it to the top of the search results. The family business down the road, experts in their field, wouldn't make it to the top of the rankings because of cost, or the fact they still haven't got a website,” Frank Maugeri, creator of BDAu, said. “I wanted to give Australian business a cost effective alternative. I think Australian businesses are sick of the existing Sensis monopoly that has been built off the back of Australia's taxpayers.”
Aligning with expert partners in all facets of Internet services, BDAu also offers businesses graphic design, web site design and promotion, and business telecommunication solutions.
Esearch IT is a user-friendly Online Public Access Directory that offers a more advanced search function than Sensis’ White Pages.
Esearch IT has over nine million of the most up to date public and business listings. Esearch IT provides users with an efficient and easy web-based search tool to find businesses and people, locally and Australia-wide. An innovative feature of the site is the inclusion of wildcards. Wildcards allow a number or address to be found using only minimal information such as the person’s name and street number – the street name is not required!
Frank Maugeri is passionate about what he has built, and sees how Australians can benefit. Working for a number of years at Pacific Access (Sensis) honed his keen knowledge of businesses and their advertising needs. “The site traffic and visits have grown daily since going live, giving me a clear indication that people are looking for a superior unbiased and user-friendly alternative,” he said.
The company is currently based in Brisbane, with offices opening in Melbourne and Sydney early next year, and in other major cities shortly after.
